FROM THE ORIGINAL BOOK GLOSSARY
Captured Value is the share of the value available around products or services that a business converts into outcomes or capabilities such as revenue, contribution, margin, direct demand, repeat business, the ability to sustain prices, reduced dependence on acquisition, or resilience.
It is not the same as all the value created, and it need not be captured entirely at the time of the transaction.
THINK ABOUT IT
What did this business gain from the value created?
A customer may get a great experience and the business may earn very little. Or an idea may lead to valuable relationships that have not yet become revenue. The two things are not the same.
